Biography

Born in 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sarah Crowner is an American artist known for her innovative fusion of painting, sculpture, and textile art. Her diverse art practice ranges from paintings and ceramics to sculptures and theater curtains. Crowner's artistic practice has led her to experiment with diverse mediums, culminating in a distinctive technique that melds geometric abstraction with intricate sewing and redefines the intersections of form and craft.

Crowner received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1996 and a Masters of Fine Arts from Hunter College, City University of New York in 2002. She also attended École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.
