2020 marks the premiere of OVR: Miami Beach, a new iteration of Art Basel's Online Viewing Rooms that will feature galleries accepted to the 2020 edition of the show. Berggruen Gallery will present a landmark exhibition of paintings, works on paper and sculpture celebrating historical masters and leading contemporary artists.
2020 is not only Berggruen Gallery’s eighteenth consecutive year as participants of Art Basel Miami Beach, since the fair’s inception, but also the fiftieth anniversary of the Gallery being open to the public. To celebrate these anniversaries, Berggruen Gallery is pleased to present a landmark exhibition of paintings, works on paper and sculpture reflecting the indelible history and exciting future the gallery shares with the city of San Francisco and collectors and institutions of the Bay Area.
To celebrate this historical milestone, Berggruen Gallery will showcase both historical masters who have played a pivotal role in the gallery’s rich history including Richard Diebenkorn, and Wayne Thiebaud, many of which have been held in private collections as well as several rare sculptures and works on paper as well as contemporary visionaries who are shaping the gallery for future generations to come. In showcasing significant examples from the 20th and 21st century, our exhibition’s aim is not only to create a meaningful dialogue among these important artists but also to provide a historical context and foundation to some of the foremost artists of today.
